Grand Island women accused of assaulting men with beer bottles, kicking officers

Laken Hormann, a 30-year-old Grand Island woman, was arrested early Sunday morning after allegedly attacking her boyfriend with a beer bottle and hitting a police officer with his leg.

Police arrived at the Brickhouse Bar at about 1 a.m. after the alarm. Officials learned that Hormann attacked his boyfriend Jonathan Castanaza, hitting and pushing him and then with a beer bottle, according to Monday’s GIPD media report.

“Shortly after Hormann and Castanaza were out of business, Hormann attacked Castanaza once more, punching him in the fist and leg, causing him to lose consciousness,” the press said.

After being taken to Hall County Jail, Hormann allegedly attacked a Grand Island police officer, “kicking him in the leg because he was upset that he had been arrested,” a GIPD media report said.

A criminal background check revealed that Hormann had previously been convicted of domestic violence in Hall County in 2019.

He was arrested on suspicion of three previous convictions for second-degree domestic violence and assault on a police officer.
