Despite the iconic Kath & With Kim’s house being demolished, a Melbourne artist took it upon himself to save the gate to the monument from Lake Patterson.
The artist, James Lemon, announced via Instagram that he would keep the gate in its “current state” to honor the memory of the legendary Australian TV show.
He wrote: “Great news everyone. After much prayer, I made the decision to acquire an important piece in my collection. A real flagship object of the site.
“I’m going to keep it as it is for the story it tells but I’d like to stabilize it.
“If you work in conservation, please contact us. NFS, unless you’re a museum, in which case I’d be happy to discuss it.
Maybe for his next project he can restore the door to the Titanic and paint on Rose and Jack just to bring home the point where BOTH of them could fit.
Property records also show the house sold for A$1.485million in 2016.
Construction of the house began earlier this month and is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete.
Before the call of the bulldozers, the house was a tourist hotspot for fans.
Some have traveled several miles to catch a glimpse of the place that a foxy woman and a big hunk of cum called home (in the TV world, anyway).
TV Tonight first reported that the Kath & Kim’s home will be demolished after owner Joanne Kelly decided to build a two-story property for her and her family.
She decided to hold an open house before construction started to give fans one last chance to get their Kath & Kim fix it.
“My friends always told me before we started the renovations, we had to have a Kath & Kim party,” Ms Kelly said.
“I thought instead of a party, we could turn this into something for charity.”
The Kelly family charged $5 per pop and donated all proceeds to Carrie Bickmore’s Beanies 4 Brain Cancer.
She was asked on Sunrise what her plans were for the renovation and she said it would be quite extensive.
“We change a lot in the house, so it won’t be the same inside or outside,” she told the Channel 7 programme.
Oddly enough, rumors that the series was going to be rebooted started swirling around the day the build kicked off.
Well, that’s one way to put the revival rumors to bed.
