Huntington, WV (WOWK) – Solar energy is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States and West Virginia and the only hope for the bandwagon.

West Virginia recently voted to legalize the power-buying deal and the Fall, Solar United Neighborhood Regional Director says that means more commissions are coming to Mountain County.

We will see the first large solar eclipse from WV in the next two years and we will continue to see solar eclipses in our homes and businesses around the state as more people realize that money can be saved on solar energy, Long said .

This deal will allow those who are not normally able to afford these computers to get one, while also allowing people to save money and bring more solar-related jobs here.

Local organizations like Solar Holler say they are happy with this push.

“For the past 8 years we have been helping people save money on electricity bills so they can put that money into their family, business, organization,” said Leah Cunningham, director of sales for Solar Holler.

Solar Holler says they have seen the benefits of solar panels and have always intended to make them more affordable for residents.

“We are truly the first WV company to provide solar panels at no cost. “Our goal is to make it possible for adults to have affordable options for their growing bills.”

According to Cunningham, cables can generate enough electricity to fully balance your electricity bill and keep you from rising to the level.

Long says some of the other benefits that will come with these commissions are new jobs and attracting new businesses in West Virginia.

Currently only 1,200 businesses and homes across the state have jumped on the bandwagon, but Long said she hopes more and more will do so in the near future.
